It's taken 2 days to install 6 steps ,there are so many different angles and stainless steel bars don't give a lot.but I've had a chance to use my monster saw it's a beast 20200703_090205.jpg 20200703_090307.jpg 20200702_160432.jpg 20200703_175838.jpg 20200703_182112.jpg 20200703_095111.jpg

Finally got the stairs done phew it was a bit of an epic.had a plan but it was more of an idea in my head so had to work some problems out as they appeared. It would of been so much easier if the strings were running parallel but then it wouldn't have been original .That's scratched itch for a while lol 20200704_172656.jpg 20200704_172637.jpg 20200704_180908.jpg 20200704_174653.jpg 20200704_173533.jpg 20200704_153357.jpg 20200704_180837.jpg 20200704_174720.jpg 20200704_174710.jpg

Nice job Hugh. Do the stainless rods go straight through the steps and the stringers? Any chance of a close up of how you've fitted them?

Now ask a carpet fitter for a quote to carpet your new stairs =))=))=))

No the stainless rods were only 250mm long each step had to be drilled in a different way as the strings weren’t parallel and we had to cut each step at the right angle to match the angle of the stringers that’s where my new saw came in it’ takes some handling

There’s no glue or screws anywhere only to hold the stringers at the ceiling.and no holes showing in the steps or stringers

Just a thought Hugh, how long and how easy will it be to learn new "muscle memory" to overcome the different tread lengths?

Envy you your skills!...I've only got about 7 tools and I don't know how half of those work.
