Has anyone replaced only the rubber boots on their wishbones? Yes, I know most people would just buy new wishbones but I have a decent pair of nearly new ones on my donor car and want to use them. However the boots have got damaged during removal.

So what size boots are required on each of the 3 associated ball joints (subframe, strut & track rod)? And what method of securing the boot do you use? They appear to be made with a metal securing tie that I'm not sure how to replicate. Would a cable tie do the same job?

And presumably you're meant to fill the boot with grease before securing? What type?

Here's one of the sources of boots I was looking at:

A light smear of grease round the ball joint pin is all you need to use. If you fill the boot it will never stay on as the movement of grease will force it off. The grease is needed below the pin in the "ball" section of the joint. The wire clips can usually be re-used as they're like a large thin key ring, a small thin cable tie can do the job but they do need to be very thin.
