    Hello All,

I picked up earlier this evening, a pristine CD43 from (top bloke) Hornell. The aim is to get the M looking like its been unmolested, but updated behind the scenes with help from a dice unit and some good hidden speakers.

Anyway, When I pulled out the crappy and very old aftermarket Sony unit, I found that original BMW connectors/loom had been removed and a Sony specific one installed. So, would any of you know what adapter or connector/loom i need to get so that I can plug in the CD43?

    Thanks in advance

    R

    Ps:

I'll try and post a couple of pictures of what the existing looks like

it looks from your second pic that the original is still there. if you pull the wires out a little further you will probably find that an adapter has been fitted to the original. there is a sliding mechanism to clip the connector in place so you'll need to open it up to release the adapter and then it should work in reverse to connect up to the OEM unit.

I hope that makes sense when you look at it without me being able to add pics :D

    Saying all this from memory...

The bit you have in your hand in the second picture is an ISO connector. You need to remove this from the next connection down the loom. Try pulling more cable through, there should be enough slack to get a better view of how to pull them apart.

With the ISO out of the way, you can connect the loom to the back of the head unit!

    Hope that helps. Gary

If only everything in life was as reliable as Zroadster.org!!!

Thanks again for all of your help, the unit is now installed and working like a dream, even the rear speakers work now when they didn't with the old Sony unit (not something i did).

As you said, the ISO connector came off and the sliding bit plugged directly into the CD43.

I suspect I will end up posting more stupid questions when I get round to replacing the speakers. something to look forwards to.

    Thanks and Rgds

:-bd glad you were able to interpret the ramblings as i wasn't sure how to describe it :D

Great that you now have all the speakers working too! :) I have swapped out a fair few head units in BMWs and caught my knuckles while sliding the clip a few times so remember it well. No question is a stupid question so ask away and we'll always be here to help.

We have a couple of members who know their stuff in the audio department so depending on your listening style then between them I'm sure they can help you get the perfect setup for you.
