Wipers issue

I have been talking to another zed owner near me and have invited him to join us on here. In the meantime, he has an issue with the windscreen wipers. Can anyone help?

Paul Newton-Smith cheers mate great to hear from you, I have a Hell Rot Red 97 1.9 Z3. Wipers come on with ignition on full pelt for about 20 secs then stop, nothing off the stalk at all so frustrating but I know an auto electrician will charge the earth, when it could be a simple relay swap

Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this?

These symptoms may be familiar to someone who has had this same issue and who can pinpoint the fault.

But in the meantime the wiper system has a control module behind the glovebox which may be worth replacing. They are £180 ish new from the dealer. But cheap secondhand £10-£20. I have one from a 98 1.9 I can do for £10 if one of you wanted to pop by.

But I'm not saying it's that. Just that for that sake of tenner it might be worth trying. If it's not that can't think what else it would be.
