All being well at the end of March next year me and Sara are going to Germany in the zed with my siss and bro in law in there Pug.
It seems i may have to have winter tyres to comply with German law,but it's not clear from what research I've done.
Some country's state you must have them between October and April (just for example).
But for Germany the weather dictates what tyres you should be running,so if there's no snow on the ground you don't legally need them,if there is then you do.
Just wondered if we have any members in Germany that might be able to shed some light on it ?
Or any one been there at that time of year ?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Steve

Thanks Andy,I've read that one and a few other similar articles to that.
I guess i could do with finding out what the weather is likely to be doing in April in Germany.
Been looking in to fitting winter tyres to my present wheels and with the rears being a 245 fitment they are £150 each :inpain:
Could buy a second set of wheels and fit winter tyres to them but of course also quite costly and then they most likely wouldn't be used after this trip and then there's the storage problem.
Why are we going in March ?......God knows.....i just agreed to it when my bro in law suggested it not knowing i may need different tyres :meh:.

Depends where you are going Steve. Can be brutal but then again ......... I suspect plenty have summer tyres on and don't get clocked.

Saltzburg area, can't remember all that was said (my memory !)also part of Austria en route.
I agree i imagine there are plenty that don't switch tyres, trouble is if you get caught up in a prang the insurance probs won't pay out.

Over here you can hire winter tires, don't know if that is possible in the UK?

Was just thinking maybe you could hire a set just for the trip and not have to fork out for new rubber and/or wheels?
