Got the mot due soon and my windscreen has a chip in the a zone, national windscreens called at my home today and fitted a nice new screen, chap named josh did the job, took care with my car and did a good job, had to pay £60 towards it, but what a difference, so clear! one thing less on my list of jobs for the mot

Excellent. My Z3 has a chip in the windscreen but it got filled. I would have liked a new one really.

mine is cracked in half (almost) i need a new one but this one is only about 6 months old. im waiting for my renewal first.

it went through the mot with it there:whistle: its on the passenger side very close to the edge so is mot-able:)

My screen is covered in road rash! I have a quote of £200 for a new one, when I get some funds its next on me list :) I clamed on my other insurance for a screen last year and it put my insurance up :(

i will wait till renewal then switch to cover that includes windscreen cover, they say it doesn't effect your premium but it does.

I thought it would be repaired, but too damaged, the nice part about a new screen is how clear it is, almost like when you get new glasses lol, I cleared a lot of crap from around the wiper linkage whilst the plastic panel below the screen was off. the guy that did the job had a neat puller for removing the wipers,i would like one in my tool box,

Yes mine has a small chip in the screen .......:p
But it got filled ;)
I'd liked a new shiny screen too :)

They speak with forked tongue - They say it won't affect your no claims discount - Which it doesn't. They just up your premium for having the gall to claim.
I had a stone fly up by a car doing well over 90 going past me. Had to have the screen replaced for the MOT as it would have been a failure. It was not my fault - nothing to do with me - yet I carry the cost.
Here's the rub - I got a quote of the insurers screen replacemeat company - They quoted me £1300. I presume they charge the insurance a great proportion of that. Well, afterwards, to my annoyance, - the dealer quoted half that ex VAT. You and I get robbed blind.

You can't win or even draw - unless Stacey can tell us more....
I know I'll get hammered on my renewal, or, at least they will try. Unluckily for them I have three policies that I will cancel on the same day.

stone chips are never the drivers fault, i have had two now, both on the same road within half a mile of each other, i get hit by stones regularly, you would have thought they would have a database of these screen claims then simply go to the worse roads and check who is actually at fault. there is an aggregate yard along this particular road you would have thought they are responsible, after all is this not unsafe loads? ok some are just unlucky as some folk (me included ) have stone driveways, its difficult to see how a stone could be linked to a particular driveway=)).

Interesting reading,I could do with replacing my zed screen as it's lightly peppered all over and it's the original one.
I thought of providing the screen with a big crack by "accidentally" dropping my hammer on it  and going through the insurance but if they are just going wack my premium up next year I'm not sure weather to bother :meh:.

Steve
