Is buying a windscreen worth it? I drive with the top down all the time.
Yes.Is buying a windscreen worth it? I drive with the top down all the time.
There's a storage bin between the roll bars? I didn't know that! While both types work well, I think that the OEM mesh wind shield is better than the clear plastic type, which always impedes access tothe rear, and makes it impossible to toss a jacket etc behind it when the roof is raised. The clear type also prevents access to the storage bin between the roll over bars, which the mesh type does not.
The OEM type can be easily unzipped when necessary, and when raised has the advantage that a jacket can be draped over the cetre section to ward off headlamp glare from SUVs etc in traffic. The aluminised sun screens used on front screens are wonderful for this, as the pillock in the SUV gets his own glare back!
Another advantage of the OEM type is that when on holiday a used towel can be stowed inside each roll over bar, and will dry off during the day's driving.
Only if you don't have subwoofer fitted between the seats. There's a storage bin between the roll bars? I didn't know that!
Used both types on Z3s and Z4 e89 and totally agree, the OEM mesh ones are designed to allow a small amount of air into the cabin to stop buffeting, the solid ones don't and I feel this makes them less effective. While both types work well, I think that the OEM mesh wind shield is better than the clear plastic type, which always impedes access tothe rear, and makes it impossible to toss a jacket etc behind it when the roof is raised. Yep, have both, and as much as I dislike the mesh wind deflector, they seem to work better than the acrylic ones. I do think it's much more than the mesh allowing some air into the cabin; the acrylic ones have this deep at the top between the hoops, which I think let way more wind than necessary.Used both types on Z3s and Z4 e89 and totally agree, the OEM mesh ones are designed to allow a small amount of air into the cabin to stop buffeting, the solid ones don't and I feel this makes them less affective.
Two types for Z3 roll hoop version and non hoop version, sometime come up on here and ebay.I've never seen the OEM ones. Are they the same for all versions (I have a post facelift 2001)? Where can they be found?
