My passenger side windscreen wiper arm is hitting the edge of the bonnet as it sweeps. It works OK but is taking the paint off the edge of the bonnet. Is it easy to reseat it further onto the spindle?

It's just a nut holding the wiper arm on a spined shaft. The nut might be loose (or missing) if the arm has ridden higher up the shaft

It will be the wiper spindle bush that is worn, it was on my Z3.

I couldn't tell you Paul. I never did mine, but it will be a fair job. First you need a good replacement so have a word with our resident breakers. They will know how big a job it is to remove a link set. @spurs fan in a coupe

I had (and still have) the same issue. I replaced the wiper mechanism but it didn’t fix it. The mechanism only goes back in one specific way ..and it’s quite sharp!
I am thinking bonnet adjustment is the only way to fix..but would need some additional help to do that. All my woes and some useful pics documented here…😁.

If the wiper spindle Bush is worn you can see it if you watch the wiper arm as it changes direction. Video you wipers operating and upload it to YouTube. I had the same issue on a Volvo 240 years ago.

Use tobacco leaves straight from the plant to coat the screen, no need for wipers.

Job done.

No need for tech   ;)

This sounds a bit drastic but...
After reading how much work was involved to try and fix this issue I decided I did not want all the hassle that Antstark and others went through. Nor did I want to leave it to take the paint off the bonnet after the respray.
In the end I took my angle grinder very carefully to the wiper arm at the base and shaved just enough metal off so that it cleared the bonnet. I then treated the metal and resprayed it black.
Worked perfectly! 😁

Always more than one way to cure a problem:thumbsup:
