Window Regulator Q

Hi,

My driver side window was running slow, so i greased the seals & regulator and it worked fine for 5-10 open/closes and then i heard a click and the window now continue to go up (to the point where its going to fall out of the door).

What part would this imply is broken? Any advice appreciated!

Hi.. I had this exact problem... you'll find there's a "retaining stop" which is rivetted into the window mechanism. The rivet wears allowing it to shift slightly and hence "miss" the stop as the window goes up. you just need to take off the door card and vapour barrier and pull the rivetted stop back round into place (it looks like a bolt". From memory it just tilts up a little so you need to persuade it back into place. I need to grease my mechanism, so next time I'm in there I'll take a photo.

Rather than wait, I picked a photo from online... it's a common problem where the Stop misses the regulator arm

whilst spraying lithium grease all over the mechanism, I took a photo of the Stop bolt..it might have moved so doesn't hit the arm at the top.
