MOT failure due to above :(:(

There is no sound coming from the pump.

Before I consider replacing the pump; please can anyone advise on other areas to check.

Many thanks

Just use a simple 12v test light and see if you get a live supply at the motor connection when the switch is operated. If you're on your own, you can pull the switch back to the wheel with an elastic band. Also try gently tapping the motor/pump with a screwdriver or something while the switch is operated too.

I was going to suggest the valves under the bonnet insulation, however wouldn't be the case as you've got no sound.

It's got to the motor or a lack of power to motor for no sound. I'd get a pump from @spurs fan in a coupe or @Synclare and try it. For what little it would cost you, you can always keep it as a spare if it turns out not to be that.

The first time as above, turned out to be a blocked filter in the washer bottle.

Cleaned the filter, but has since re-blocked :(

So I've just taken the whole water bottle & pump out to clean. Simple job.

The water bottle has only been filled with clean water & screen wash, BUT still amazed at how much crud had solidified at the base of the bottle (can only assume its something to do with the screen wash or hard water)

As I'd got the whole thing apart; I've decided to change the motor pump for good measure. BMW OEM = £47.21 !!!!!!!!!!!!!, FEBI Equiv = £20.00. You can get cheaper (£10.00) but I thought play safe with the FEBI...............I hope :)

Febi stuff is usually quite good, sort of mid-range priced. I used to clean expansion tanks and washer bottles with a mixture of warm soapy water and some "smooth" gravel given a very good shaking it will clean the crud out of the container.

Make sure your tube hasn't come apart at the junction on the driver's bulkhead on the edge of the DME box. It happened to me recently and was a 10 second fix. I think I could still hear the motor but I'm not sure. It might change it's sound if the pipe just routed to atmosphere.

Unless it's a wiring fault, your worst issue is a secondhand pump for a few quid.

Useful to change pump filter and one way valves under bonnet insulation while you are at it.

And clean the washer bottle out with Milton fluid and something to agitate it as you shake it. I used marbles. Looks like new now.

You can also get sterilising or water purification tablets, heard of people who drop a tablet in every now and then to help keep the growing things under control.
