You aren't the first, and I'd doubt the last either! I'm sure that the straps would hold it in place at speed, but I'd hate for that to be proven wrong

I put mine in the same place..
If you put it in front of the hoop you cant open the top rear storage box .
I had my roof down at speed and deflector secure at speed .
I dont reckon that it would come adrift as when going at speed the airflow pushing the deflector against the roll bars whereas on the inside the airflow would be trying to pull it off the bar

certainly if you drive with no deflector roof down the strong wind current that flows between the 2 seats travels forward therefore if the deflector fitted as in picture should be pushed into the bars. Stephen.

These ones are cut differently to allow access to the storage bin. They are also designed to fit against the bars on the inside, personally they look odd on the back. Not sure the air flow works exactly the way you think it does, and I'm only going with how every perspex deflector manufacturer has sold them so far. This style has been tested at 155+ without issues.

But, it's your car so do what you feel works for you ;)

I just went on google and looked at a pile of deflector pictures but that didn't really help perspex ones fitted both way round :(
But i am reasonably certain about the aerodynamics side of it:)

I agree with @Stevo7682 , IMO fitted to the back of the hoops is a better place so it is forced against the hoops with the airflow

Looks good. This deflector has been designed to fit on the inside of the hoops. It actually tucks inside the hoop at the bottom. But if you preferre it the other way round it's your deflector. Enjoy.

When I made the panel for my Z4 last year @Redline had some clips made via a friend, however I have since found that it doesn't actually require any clips to hold it in place, which only serves to prove the wind flow shown in Steve's pictures (showing a Z4) does actually happen that way.

Tony.

I wasn't meaning to open a can of worms on this @Lee like you've said your deflector has been cut and shaped to fit inside and allow storage box opening . The one i bought is larger and if fitted inside wouldn't allow storage box opened.

Depends on how they've been designed. Some block the storage box some don't. Remember not all zeds have a storage box. Personally they look cleaner and neater on the inside.

The ebay picture had it fitted on outside.
I'll maybe try it on the other side but reckon storage box wont open whereas at the moment it does

True, but they don't take into account the storage box. Go with what ever suits you. Just wanted to clear up what this perticalur shape of deflector was instended for.

I think the ebay picture was taken to show off the deflector more than how it's supposed to fit. The original design for these do block the storage bin, and that's just the way it is. Lees design is different to others available.

It's not a can of worms, it's usually discussed at least once a year with the same outcome.
