Hi Tracy, you need to make a template of out of, say, cardboard to be a snug fit between the "hoops" or to go right over them (a better option really) and you have to find someone local to you you cut it out of Perspex, not forgetting some slots as in the pictures. You can buy Velcro strips off eBay to fasten it to the hoops

Tony.

ps. My old boss made one for his MX5 like this.

Not technically minded so will leave the roof up.=))
Was hoping a kind sole might be able to make or adjust one for a fee.

I'm not convinced a perspex deflector would be much use for those hoops. If you look at the picture in the first post OEM roll hoops are higher than the head rests on the seats. If it's at the height of your current hoops, I don't think it would be very effective.

You could cut the perspex to be higher than the hoops, but I'm not sure how good that would be with the perspex flexing as it's not that well supported. Guessing with thick enough perspex it might not matter...

@Tracy Dee hun you need to change your hoops!! from that pic it doesnt look like they would be much use in regards to safety :nailbiting: get on to @spurs fan in a coupe and see of he can sort you with some safer hoops

Apparently safety is not an issue on early models such as my 97 the strength saftey is in the windscreen front rail. Thanks for the thought.
Just bought a third brake light from spurs fan should be arriving soon.

Hi @Lee, I'm thinking of adding a clear panel to the original "net" wind deflector on my Z4 just as a shaped panel as in the picture
s-l225.jpg

I'm thinking maybe having it to apply a decal which I brought back from Florida, Roy @Rha has one I brought for him. I don't know if he's put it on his yet. Have you any idea what it would cost for a piece of Perspex 21" x 8", if not please could you enquire next time you're there?

Thanks Tony.

ps.Ideally I want to trim it to fit inside the "frame" and sit up against the mesh. Perhaps worth looking into for the forum coffers too?

No Tony cos when the screen departed it got scratched and I'm thinking it would only show up all scratches if I fit the LED up light. What do you reackon ?????

You're probably right mate, but applying the decal might distract the eye away from the scratches. Sad to say the guy I got these from is no longer selling them, or I would have brought some home.

Tony.

Maybe give it a try later in the better weather, have bought some Velcro straps in black for it and hope they hold better than the plastic Velcro one that came with iT, may still have to hide cable ties under them though just in case the local bobbies chase me again.=))

Gonna try them fabric ones I just bought.

Sorry chaps, but I loved my lock down OEM type 1, even kept it up when the hardtop was on as it cuts out head light glare when you have a big 4x4 up your ass, don't do plastic....buy the way, still got it, if anyone is interested in buying it..;)

I have to agree with that sentiment Mike, even with the top up on mine the wind deflector does block headlight glare too even through a glass rear window.
