I thought I'd have a bit of fun with lynne's roof saga .:D
As some of you will know we bought another zed for lynne in late September that came with its own indoor water feature.:confused:
So to fast forward to today this is where things are at .:)
Interior removed and cleaned and dried .
Gaping hole either side of window
re-stitched and sealed .
Both door panels removed weathershield removed re butyled as old stuff hard not sticking
Replacement offside door seal
Both triangle grommets at upper 'a' pillar resealed .
Drain channel at seatbelt mount modified to stop overspill into rear shelf area .
Whole roof 2 coats fabsil gold sealant
Water ingress to offside footwell been the worst ( the one i really need to stop)
Still get water dripping in drips off the inside roof handle at the hole the working off the handle can be seen through ( source currently unknown) :meh::meh:

So here's the poll question
Wednesday into Thursday its meant to be really wet here
So The Roof
Will it or Wont it leak.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Sounds like you been putting in the time on this one.

Hope it all pays off and the interior remains dry.

After all the work you have put in Steve it shouldn't leak, so I've voted no as well ;)

Being an optimist, I will say no but I would get a car cap as insurance. :)

Not being a pessimist or an optimist, I just sit in the middle, so I don't care if it does or does not ... :ymdevil:

Regret, I'm unable to vote because if I say it won't, like I want to...

...it definitely will!

Empty a kettle of water or water from a watering can over the repaired areas before it rains - at least you can control how much leakage there might be - if still leaking and you have to leave the car outdoors > where possible put some cling film on the areas where the film will work - and until you can get it sorted - hopefully all will be fine!:)

My goodness I know all about the internal water feature with my Z3. I voted YES because I'm certain mine will leak, and I live pretty close to Steve. Having owned MGB and Midget rag tops and being able to keep them dry inside, this car's propensity for rain ingress has surprised me. I wouldn't mind damp floors if there weren't those entirely unnecessary sensors bolted to the floor. And as for that dense foam bonded under the carpet  - sure it makes the car quieter, but once its wet its so hard to dry it out. I suppose its called progress.

The only time(s) my Z3 let water in were one Monday evening at a darts match at South Clifton when the rain came sideways and wet the driver's seat and one Friday lunchtime me and a mate from work were heading out to the local KFC and the weather was very similar. Never had wet carpets, ever.

Its been fun reading all the posts I'm liking the optimism of some and the grim reality of some .:thumbsup:
Just to clarify the main leak that im hoping to have stopped is the offside footwell leak last time cover was off overnight in the rain next morn containers below rear screen has about a teaspoon of water ( further repair carried out)
Roof catch leak tablespoon in container
Offside footwell 1pint of water :eek:.
Like Tony's zed my dakar sits out rain and shine and doesn't leak.
Just need to have put a stop to the major leaks ( minor dribbles i can live with)
@Sean d wells have been known to dry up you know .
Well storm Caroline due in wed night into thurs so fingers crossed.
Would like to get all the interior back in but thats not happening till leaks under control as the carpets took several weeks to get dried out the last time when i removed it all.
So i am really hoping this round of repairs will be the final one :rolleyes::nailbiting::nailbiting:
