Hi,

Is it possible to swap out my 98’ 1.9 rear panels for the 2.8 wide body panel sections (both 1st gen shape) will this fit?

If not, what adjustments or extra parts would need to be fitted?

many thanks

Is possible you will need:
  • Wide body outer sills
  • Wide body rear quarter panels
  • Wide body rear bumper
  • Wide body wheel arch liners

I seem to think @Faheem has done/is doing this conversion.

Tony.

You could then fit Type 40 Roadstar M wheels as the 1.9 has the smaller track than the wide bodied cars, same as the M :D:D

@t-tony Yep, that is still on my "to-do" list. Has been for over a year now.

Jim has got the parts list bang on.

Will need to order a set of widebody sills and then book the car in for a panel off respray.

Only worry is trying to find a good bodyshop locally as the paint on the car at the moment is great (besides some of the corrosion beginning to show on the arches and sills).

I've seen lots of cases where there's tons of orange peel on the paint work or even lacquer runs or overspray on headlight housings or suspension components which would really mess with my OCD!

M wheels are also refurbed and ready to go on after the respray. Just need a set of 4 tyres to go on them. :D
