Gradually fixing the leaks etc on the “new” Z3, my latest success being the fuel filler drain.

The two photos show where water is seeping into the vehicle.

can somebody tell me how this seal should stop dampness in this area.

many thanks
Richard

Not sure but I think there is a rubber seal along the lower edge of the soft top where it meets the body, sooner or later I will find out because I have to replace my soft top, but of course you need the info now. :)

In your inside photo, that box on the left with the rubber beading on the top edge, that's a drain box. The water drops into there and there is a drain tube that comes out under the car by the back edge of the door area.

Pour some water into the box and see it come out under the car. If it does not come out, then you need to get something to push down the drain tube and clear it. Thin weed wacker line should do the trick.

And if it's not that - hope it is, the butyl seals will have gone. One of those easy enough if you're happy with DIY on your car/once you've done it and if you've been methodical jobs. But positively off-putting to do for many.

I put my finger into that area and couldn’t feel anything that felt like a drain tube
