In addition to our 1973 MGB, which was a member of our family for 49 years, another favorite export to the US, IMHO, is the auto series Wheeler Dealers. I never miss an episode. Edd China being my preferred co-host. I always wondered what auto enthusiasts on the other side of the Atlantic thought of the show?

I've watched it from the very beginning when it was two 30 minute shows and Mike had a maximum of £300 to turn round a car. Edd for me followed by Elvis then Ant a distant 3rd. A great show along with Car SOS (not sure if you get that in the US?). Not sure how much longer it has left but hopefully a few more years yet.

Looks like it's available here on Amazon Prime. Will check it out. Thanks

I too have watched them from the very beginning ~ I've saved all the BMW ones on my Tivo box

All the mechanics have been good in different ways, but I have to laugh at Elvis ~ he gets a small problem and next minute it's out the car and in bits on the bench

Alternatives ~ Car SOS, Bangers and Cash, Bangers and Cash Restoring Classics

Don't get me wrong I like wheeler dealers but I can't stand mike brewer he talks crap like when Ed does an oil change and Mike's telling a prospective buyer that it's had a full service

Well that is standard car seller speak for "I'll give it a service" isn't it? They don't even change the oil filter anymore, because you can't see it like you could a "spin on" type which got a wipe with an oily rag. So I was told ..............................................

Tony.

It's a load of old tosh. Always made me laugh, some dodgy old motor on the ramps, pan in to do a pad and disc change, pan out and the wheels have be refurbished, shiny paintwork, new chrome etc. When did that lot happen? Who did it? Not the host mechanic that's for sure and not for the 5 shillings they tell us.

Just an opinion!

I’ve seen some old episodes… I would never buy anything from that guy.
His behaviour reminds me of 80s sleazy second hand car dealers that had that little flags hanging around ”thing” and were doing business from inside a container box.

Always disappointed that Edd China never used copper grease when re-assembling parts. Saves so much hassle later down the line. Don't use it on caliper bolts though.

Of course they never factor in the cost per man hour of service if work was done at a local shop so final costs are way low. Over here it's about $80 to $120 per hour.

There was one episode, cannot remember what car but elvis rattles the wheel nuts up looks at the camera whilst giving the wobbly wheel a spin and says job done. Wheel was nit even on properly.

My sister works for a company who make and sell parts for the classic car industry. The owner of the company is good friends with Edd China. By all accounts he is a thoroughly nice chap and a true petrolhead.

Never liked Ant Anstead or Brewer, but the show is very watchable.

I can appreciate a well done restomod if it's not too over the top, but a few years ago, when Barrett Jackson featured those over original vehicles by about 4 or 5 to one, that I felt the loss of originality. It's amazing that you can see a well restored Packard from the 1930's and along comes a restomod selling for 10 times the price. Would love to pick up an old Packard but it takes up way too much room in the garage.
