Is there a limit of how far the tyre can come out? I need 30mm to match the edge of the arch on the rear, I guess you'd not really want to exceed the inner arch or would you go for outer, for looks?

The law says something along the lines of "no part of the tyre shall extend beyond the wheel-arch". Bit of a paraphrase, but that's the general idea. I know that you do sometimes see cars with a bit more showing than that, but it is an excuse for a pull.

Not just an excuse for a pull - also an excuse for your insurers to void your policy when you need them most... after you've been involved in an accident.
Just takes a harsh loss adjuster to spot them, note that they're illegal (which in turn contravenes the T&Cs of your policy) and he'll surmise that you've potentially affected the handling of the car which possibly contributed to the accident - so you'll be on your own.

Not too bad if it's a minor scrape with someone in a Ford Fiesta and you have to cough up a few hundred quid, not quite so clever if it's a collision with a Ferrari or there are injuries involved.... then you could be looking at hundreds of thousands or more!

I think the man means how big a spacer you can put on, not can it poke it out by 30mm (if so the driftworks forum is that way >>)

30mm spacers are available but the only place I recall seeing them was H&R I think, about £150ish.

@spurs fan in a coupe had a set a while ago, might be sold?
