Hey,

I have an opportunity to buy a set of MV2's with ok tyres for £150. Whilst they aren't too bad I am something of a perfectionist so wouldn't put them on my Z3 until they looked tip-top.

As I haven't had a set fully refurbed before I am just wondering what the going rate is nowadays? I would imagine I would want them fully stripped back and powder coated. Looking to achieve an original finish.

I should ask also, that they are generally all the same? Just bolt on and go? I have 20mm spacers on my style 35 rears currently

Thanks

Jon

Up to about £100 a corner for the whole wheel, not just the face. You can get it cheaper depending on where you live, down to about £70. Mine cost £100 a corner but I live in the middle of nowhere so no competition.

Got my Z3 M Coupe alloy wheels (17") refurbished - stripped & powder coating in BMW Ferric Grey including new centre caps & M stickers. £210 all in at a local company RS Alloys in Hartlepool.
I also had alloy wheels refurbished for my wife's Golf 2litre TDI GT which are diamond cut which worked out at £8 each.

Best thing is to check around to see what local firms can do for you, I checked three different companies before I finally decided which one to use.

£210, that sounds good and they look very nice. I've just been quoted £240 for full refurb and powder coat which includes refitting tyres and balancing the wheels on my Mercedes.

Had mine done a couple of years ago now, cost £280 IMO top job (Danum coatings) Doncaster. Dipped and striped powder coated lots of fleck when the sun hits them
Cheaper if wheels off car as limited space

Quote for my M wheels £380 and that's a dedicated alloy wheel referber in Hereford. Full strip, powder coat and respray including tyres off and back on and balancing (and I thought that was dear, but I'm tight)

City Powder Coaters, Birmingham, near the Uni. A back street ind est, £120 including remove/refit tyres or £100 rims on their own - that's for all four.
Can't go wrong at the price, unless you're anal and like to inspect with a magnifying glass looking for flaws!
I've had 4 sets done.
Ask @Jjim as he's used them since also.

Thanks for all the replies, in the end I didn't buy.
I was quoted 200 for a refurb but the wheels definitely needed new tyres and by the time I was done it would be at least £800 so I decided to stick with my 35's.
There is something nice, something classic and chunky I like about the 35's but really love the MV2s.
