Morning all.
I am now the proud owner of a 3.0i, to go with my 2.8.

I will more than likely be selling my 2.8 so more info on that in the near future.
However I had the 2 part wheels on the 2.8 powder coated and they are lovely. So I thought I might put them on the 3.0.
The existing ones are 7JX16H2 on the 3.0
The 2 piece powder coated wheels on the 2.8 are Front 71/2JX17, Rears 81/2JX17H2.
Is there any difficulty I need to consider in respect of swapping them over ??

Thanks Stephen, Thats what I thought.
Just looked in the 3.0 handbook and apparently both sizes are applicable for that car.
Presumably the wider wheel was an extra option and the ones on it are standard.

It'll be interesting to se how much difference it makes to the ride though ??

17 staggered best all round in my opinion.
16 more bump absorbing but sloppy handling
17 much improved handling without major ride comprise.
My 2.8 orinoco has 16 standard now got 17 staggered drives much better especially in wet.
Stephen.

I haven't got around to it yet.
However you can find the car on Chris Hunters page.
I bought his, off his son, Lee.
I think we struck a decent deal in the end for both of us. Chris had done a lot of work, particularly on the mechanicals and running gear. It would have cost me a load of money to do the same to my 2.8.

However its not quite as pleasing on the eye as the red one so I'm going to change out the wheels, to fill the arches, maybe look for some chrome handles and vents. And having driven it back from Carlisle to Bristol I am yet again going to change out the old speakers for something a bit punchier.

I will put some pics up when I get the wheels sorted

That car had pretty much everything done to it mechanically and to the bodywork if I remember. It did need better wheels but I wouldn’t change much else

Well time will tell how good a car it is I guess.
But the previous owner was certainly very protective of it. He did very few miles in it to be fair.
It hadn't been out in the rain for a long time apparently....until a downpour on the M6 Saturday evening on the way home:(
It drives very well and the delivery is very smooth. Maybe not quite as 'macho' as the 2.8 but that's only a first impression.

I will be looking to take it out on some roads I'm more familiar with, to gain a better idea of how much better it actually is than the 2.8.

I'll get the wheels changed over, clean up the engine bay a bit etc, etc,
Needs a new back window really but as it's watertight I may live with that for now.
Might price up a new, coloured, roof :)

Hi Gordon, so pleased you have got the car and within time hopefully love it as much as my dad loved did, Funny you talk about changing the wheels as I always tried to push my dad into bigger wheels but he wanted to stay original.
Looking forward to seeing what it looks and handles like.
Have fun 👍👍

Forgot to update.
Changed the 16 X 50's off the 3.0i for the 17's on the 2.8i.
I think they look better but it's only a a personal opinion.
The car now feels a little better on the road too, but it's marginal.
Having said that the 2.8i feels fine too on the old 3.0 wheels !!
I'll take some pictures, you can make up your own minds an what looks best.
