Wheel Bolt Woes

After a very stressful and unproductive day last weekend attempting to remove my front wheels to replace the ABS sensor I decided, after a bit of research to invest in a torque multiplier, l know they are primarily intended for commercial vehicles, but my wheel bolts were not for moving, I tried a blow lamp, impact wrench, impact driver and extension bars etc all to no avail, but this great piece of kit made the job a piece of cake ! And i can strongly recommend their use to anyone, and at a cost of about £40 I don't consider it very expensive. Hope this info may help someone else who may be struggling with the same issue.

Good advice, though not sure how it works. Any chance of picture in operating mode please?

They are usually a set of gears inside. Eg one turn with spanner is 1/4 turn of socket end so 4 times torque applied. Spanner one end socket other and the arm at the side locks against the item being bolted.
Make sense?
Used to use the 1" drive ones for the machine section bolts before hydraulic bolt were available .

Yep, pretty much as Brian say's but I think the ratio on my particular one is 64:1 this means very little input effort is neended for a tremendous amount of output torque, there are loads of videos on YouTube but i will post a picture in use when i remove the rears.

Looks like a nasty piece of equipment...........

Personally, I would buy the 'silencer' adaptor to it and go visit the person that tightened them....................Frankie
