have you got an ftdi adaptor ? once you open up the sonoff you see the pins for flashing the firmware
connect up the ftdi adaptor and flash the sonoff bin file, using either arduino or esptools then search your wifi for the sonoff device.. firmware will do so much more than what the original sonoff will do, my sonoffs have temp sensors, barometric pressure sensors, servos for blinds ws2812b leds heating controllers etc.... you can also flash the sonoff 433 mhz bridge with tasmota, and make your own iot devices with nodemcus.. they so cheap can get them for a couple of quid....
