Haven't got a clue about Z4's other than it seems the 3.0 seems the best on fuel.
It's just the E85 model though as the E89's as gorgeous as they are,are too much money at the mo.

It is not for me i might add,but for my sister and bro in law who at last looks like they are seriously looking at ditching there Pug tin top in favour of a zed after Xmas :).

Can't convince them that a Z3 may suit them,Derek is set on a 4.
So just thought I'd ask for your views and then let them read it,so any thoughts gang please ?.

Thanks in advance .

Of course I would choose a 3.0SI.
There's a significant and noticeable increase in power over the SE. But, it depends on what they expect from it and what they are used to.

The 3.0L are nose heavy and not as nimble as the smaller engines but are a bit more point and squirt. Overtaking though is an absolute hoot!

Don't expect more than 25-35mpg except on long gentle cruise speeds.
Mine is an auto which makes a nice relaxing drive but, I do miss the manual option at times.
Am sure @t-tony will be along shortly!

Definitely the 3.0si ask @MAURICE THE MARTIAN It is better on fuel and quicker. It returns around 10% more than his 3.0SE Auto on any run we do. All in all a better Zed.
You could always pop him down to mine after he has visited @t-tony and put him in a proper mans z4 =))=))

If he goes for any of the Z4 models i would recommend he gets the roof motor relocated asap if it has not already been done. Costs around £85 to relocate to the boot and save any unwantly big bills if it gets water logged. Satnav to me is a waste of time as he would need to keep upgrading it. Otherwise go for the highest spec he can for the money.

I think the best zed you buy is the one you can afford. Yes the 3.0si is obviously the best but out of reach for some. I have driven Tonys car and have to say it was fantastic. Yes put an Si up to it of course it will loose on the drag strip but you'd still have a plenty quick enough 3.0 Z4

I disagree with gary on the satnav, it's a cracking bit of kit and served me well across 4 countries earlier this year. The software can just be upgraded via BMW if you wish the newer map pack.

P.S great on fuel :p

Which is the 3.0l with the expensive electric water pump and coil and injector / high pressure fuel pumps?
Or is it all of them?
When looking at e90 3 series one of the 3.0l engines came up as having some big bills (I don't mean the 335i but a na engine).

I know where to get Sat Nav upgrades a WAY below BMW cost, and they work fine. It's not all singing and dancing kit, but it does it's job, and it lives in the dash meaning you don't have to stick it to the windscreen, in my opinion a good thing.:)
