Was there a factory brace on any of these? I'm not the original owner of my 3.0i, but mine already has a strut brace installed. My Dad was the original owner...he was a hobby racer (formula Jr's), but I wouldn't have expected him to mod the Z.

Turns out I was wrong....must have been one of the many I've seen at cars and coffee. So....if I wanted to add one, is the installation pretty simple? I'm pretty handy but don't like getting into 4-hour-take-30-things-off-to-get-to-my-part type projects. Just too much that can go wrong.

The good news is that, with only 7,000 miles and only a fair weather car, all the bolts, etc are clean, zero rust or corrosion. The cat-back upgrade went pretty smoothly.

With the car sitting on its wheels simply remove the 3 nuts from each side strut top mountings, fit the strut race bar (which ever type you choose) and refit the 6 nuts onto the studs.
A 10 minute job.

Tony.

ps. If the strut brace has an adjuster you may need to tighten the lock nuts etc.

Thanks. It looked like that, but I don't know much about the front end components....didn't know if I had to do anything to unload the struts or something like that.

You will probably have to loosen the bolts that hold the bar across the strut onto the turret fittings, but I fitted one in the car park on the recent Lakes and Dales. It took longer to get my tools out of the boot than to fit the brace.

I think they were fitted to quite a few of the six cylinder cars. I have a feeling that some struts don't fit both six and four cylinder cars. But I'm not 100%. Mine has a cutout for the earth terminal on one side.

Does anyone know whether the OEM strut bar on the E46 M3 fits the Z3M?
