What would you do?

Makes sense to me Mike :)

You can sell it when you've used it. You can't sell a train seat.

Tony.

Interesting and one in the eye for the train company execs. And if you're like me (miserable) you don't need to talk to anybody else as it's just you on your tod and listening to Radio 2. You can also leave when YOU want and don't get wet walking to and from the train station. The lad has done well. Now if it had been a Fiat of similar age I suspect he may have not made it ;)

Some of these train ticket prices are stupid.

Doesn't really promote public transport.

Private company greed, got to keep the shareholders happy, and the bosses bonuses paid.

Could’ve got his rucksack out and thumb, would have cost him nout. Ha ha ha when was the last time you saw a hitch hiker.???????

RHA,Roy.

Roy, funny enough today and also two others yesterday. All student types with cards up asking for lifts.

Wonder how long before someone stopped to give them a lift Paul, I would if they were dressed reasonable and clean shaven, no pun intended for you bearded ones, just an old saying used by old-uns like me.

Roy.;)

Very good idea :p
And you can get their door to door with no hidden extras and no waiting around :)

After a 5 minute Google I can buy a return ticket for the same journey for less than a 1/4 of what the lad paid for the car. I thought youngsters were supposed to be on the ball with this internet stuff? I smell a rat and a political message in this story :)

I travelled from London to Aberdeen and back last year 1st Class.. Booked in advance and it was £122. Amazing price considering the freebies as well.

Buying Tickets Online
If you’re buying tickets in advance, and don’t need to travel on the day, you might find it easier and cheaper to buy tickets online. Most major rail operators’ websites will enable you to do this, and there are also several online ticket specialists – we’ve listed just a few in the ‘external links’ box below. Buying online enables you to compare and contrast timetables, ticket types, travelling restrictions and prices, enabling you to get the best deal.

Nothing to do with just going to a train station to buy a ticket and jump on a train when you like then ....

Comfort first - hassle second - if a one-off journey by train. Gonna have to MOT the car?
