Gearing up to go touring in France in the Z3, it struck me that in the case of a puncture the punctured wheel would not fit in the space saver's carrier, and with a boot full of luggage and a passenger seat full of the better half, there is nowhere to put it. Has anyone come up with a cunning folding rack or similar that enables you to temporarily strap it on the boot lid do get to a tyre depot without calling "le AA"?

Well, having a "tyre fix" spray may save you the trouble but in extreme cases I've seen Z3s with the tyres in plastic bags inside the trunk and the trunk half open strapped to the bumper.

Tyre strings have got me out of trouble. Easy to use too.

Get a tyre turd kit and a bottle of slime and a small pump, all takes very little room and other than a damaged tyre punctures can be fixed. Never had a Zed with a spare so that's how I have done it for years

If carrying a damaged but still pressurised tyre on the passenger's knees, remember to always vent the air, as a Z3 passenger was killed a few years ago when a damaged tyre on her knees blew at an 'egg' on the sidewall - she died shortly afterwards from lung damage caused by the high pressure air entering them.
