I think the original rubber hoses and plastic connector pipes look new because they have had a easy life in the cool coolant. Now they are really going to take the heat.
My 2006 Scion xB runs at 181F, and my 2008 Subaru Forester runs at 193F. I was surprised that the temperature for a 1997 Z3 would be 209F. But the quick warm ups and higher temperature should be better for the engine and mileage.

My experience with OEM and aftermarket thermostats, did a full rebuild of coolant side of engine, fitted a WHALLER thermostat from AUTODOC cost around thirty quid, ran local for two days, also bleeding system three or four times, started 250 mile journey to see grandkids 1 mile out EML light and triangle on, cancel journey, hire car, shows code P1622, purchased BMW OEM thermostat reduced to ninety eight quid, fitted it bled it ,from day one caused the car to overheat, shows code P1622. bleed it three or four times, no better, investigate remove power connection from top ( gently ) inside of thermostat complete with two broken connections came out with power connection and could see into the thermostat, waiting for a replacement from BMW, no i wont be paying, you pay your money and take a chance could have bought three for the price of one from BMW. my car 2.8 z3.
