When I put drilled and grooved M-Tec discs on my old E85 I fitted EBC UltiMax pads. I was very happy with these as they gave good stopping power (road use only) and, they made very little dust. I don’t know what brand of pads are in my E89 at the moment but I do know they aren’t that sharp at stopping and they cover my wheels in dust Quite quickly. I now have front and rear discs at the Shed leaving pads to source and a set of S/S hoses (hoping they might come on a sleigh in a few weeks;))
There was a place in Lincoln that used to sell EBC pads but sadly no more. I can buy them on eBay but they’re quite expensive. So, my question to you all is, what’re you using, how good are they, and, how much dust do they make?

Tony.

I was really disappointed with the dust of the oem Mazda pads and not so satisfied with their performance when very hot.
Installed Akebono Ceramics and up to now (1.200 km) minimal dust and better performance fully justify their price.

Yep, I fitted them on my Eunos back in the day.

I fitted TRW low dust pads (and discs) to my old E89. Absolutely brilliant stopping power without being top brand money. Only problem I had was they don't do low dust for the rears, so the car always looked like it had been driven everywhere in reverse...ie the rears got dusty but not the fronts.

I like TRW so much now I have put them on my wife's Mazda and daughter's Mini.

TRW do tend to take a while to 'bed in', though. Not necessarily a bad thing IMO.

Tony, I'll need to share a video I have of Mtec disks. Their machining is terrible. I got an audi set for a project on my e30 to fit jag calipers. I needed to take a mm off the I.d. of the hub so they ended up on a lathe. Found out the machining on the cast was terrible. I trial fitted them and the test drive created steering wobble. I sent the video to mtec and they did send a replacement disk which wasn't much better. They're cheap but definatly for a reason. I only went with them as they redrill the pcd. Better with an ecp special.

The cast was probably OK but the machining afterwards is rubbish

I wouldn't call M-Tec discs cheap by any stretch of the imagination. They certainly don't appear poorly machined either.
Not sure what that video has to do with what type of pads?

Tony.

A little off thread on the pad question i'd agree. I didnt mean to upset you on your choice of disks either. If you're happy with them enjoy Mr T-Tony.
