It's a 1997, 1.9 engine with the manual gearbox. What sort of oil do I need for the diff and gearbox?

Contact “Opie Oils” they will tell you what you need and post it to you.

Go to any retailers, they will sell you the grade and amounts you need for your car. Opie Oils will tell you too even if you're not able to buy from them. Just say you are a member on this forum.

Tony.

BMW SAF-XO diff fluid (#07512293972) or any 75w 90 within API GL-5, GL-6, MT-1, MIL-L-2105E, SAE J2360 specs.
BMW MTF LT2 Transmission fluid (#83222339219) or any 75w 85 or 90 GL5 spec
That is what the book says.

I have no idea of what this is.
You should ask specifically for a manual transmission oil and a differential oil.
May be the same in terms of viscosity but may be different in added ingredients.
Try finding one that complies with BMW standards. The one you posted seems to be for a truck.
