Hi

Just a quick one? Sorry if it's been asked before....

Should i be using vpower or other high grade fuel or will standard do?

My car seems to be running a bit lean.

TIA

Should run fine on normal fuel, must be another issue. Pop a code reader on it and check for split hoses under the bonnet.

Mine runs really well on Tesco Momentum 99, it’s often at a good price also.

A couple of years ago I found my engine was not running (or sounding) as good as she aways had done , a mate who runs his own garage checked for codes and other faults and could find no source for the rough running. New plugs made no improvement. But he is motorbike man (BMW and Duccatti) and suggested I need a better fuel (based on his experience with high powered bikes For a long time I had ran it on Shell VPower, until my local garage stopped selling it, I had changed over to Tesco Momentum 99, about the time I started getting engine troubles, and had not put the 2 events together. Ran tank very low ,found another garage with Shell VPower and after a could of tanks all was back to normal.
I still use Shell VPower and the annual cost difference over my 3,000 miles is neglegent.

I am certainly not an expert, but here in the US the fuels have different octane levels, used to prevent pre-ingnition, or “pinging”. The theory is that a higher octane fuel allows the computer, or the distributor to run a more advanced timing without damaging the engine. In some engines designed for high octane fuel, the computer will retard the timing on low octane fuel, decreasing performance, and ironically fuel mileage. Best to run the recommended octane for the car...

I have tried all types, I get slightly better fuel consumption with the more expensive stuff, because my wallet is lighter.

don't see a blind bit of difference otherwise.

Also, don't think there is much difference in price, I always put £30 in, and it costs the same with all of them....
