Tell your friend it's usually erratic performance of the remote/central locking system in that some doors/boot will lock and others don't. Unfortunately door lock actuator fault can present similar symptoms which confuses the diagnosis.Just asking for a friend....

Boot Loom Wiring
There are 9 wires in the boot loom, below the 9 wires are grouped with the function attached. The lock/unlock and switch position functions are controlled via the central ZKE module
The two wires below are part of a common loom that triggers the door actuator/lock.

- 1.5 BL/GR blue/grey - boot lock motor wire
- 1.5 WS white - boot lock motor wire
- 0.35 RT/GN red/green - boot lock switch - supply wire
- 0.5 WS/BL white/blue - boot lock switch - unlock wire
- 0.5 WS/GN/GE white/green/yellow - boot lock switch - lock wire
- 0.5 BR brown - 3rd brake light - earth
- 0.75 BL/RT blue/red - 3rd brake light - supply Wire
- 0.5 BR/WS brown/white - boot light switch supply wire
- 0.5 BR brown - boot light switch - earth
Hmmm Thank-you gents, well it seems that is not my issue I dont think. Its odd that I went to the car this morning key on and nothing completely dead, grabbed the multimeter opened the boot checked battery volts, all good , closed boot. key on and it starts. I'm wondering too if it has anything to do with my radio needing its code every now and again..Battery terminal all clean , tight, voltage good...It,s got me this one...Next time it happens, I,ll go in via the bonnet and check voltage at the jump terminals as it seems to be connected to opening and closing the boot. Gotta love this car, always something bloody interesting going on.

Have you checked that the boot light goes off when boot is closed?
Yes, I had an issue with that, the bulb is not in it, it did stay on from time to time, not every time though...
If it is, then odds on it is partly severed wires in the `loom of doom' which make and break contact as the loom flexes. I had very similar situation years ago.
Have you checked fuses? I had a similar issue and found that 1 of 3 fuses for central locking was blown...Hmmm Thank-you gents, well it seems that is not my issue I dont think.
