What am I doing wrong? : Issues after replacing seat bushings

Having some difficulties with replacing the seat bushings on my 2000 Z3 1.8 roadster.

I followed the instructions set out by BMW and following some advice around the internet.

All fittings go back together okay, but when I test to see if the seat forward and backward mechanism works, the motor appears to be struggling or juddery. It does move forwards and backwards, but it does so very slowly and seems to do so without continuously moving - just judders.

Has anyone experienced this issue? I can't get my head around what the fix is and would (obviously) like the full movement back in the seats before reinstalling them.

I have heard of it. If it's not moving right don't bolt it down. I've heard of a case here on the forum where somebody bolted theirs down and slid the seat back and it jammed up and wouldn't come forward again so they couldn't get at the bolts to remove the seat again. I can't remember what their solution was though but it wasn't long ago. Month or so ago maybe.

The problem is if the bushes don't go back on the rod in the right place. Bushes on one side aren't in the same position on the threaded bar as the bushes on the other bar.

All I can say is take the bushes and rods out again and reassemble it making sure the bushes are the same number of turns from the end on both sides.
