My youngest daughter paid for a weekend away for me and Sara as it was our wedding anniversary recently, but left the choice of where to go up to us.
So with @Stevo7682 posting on here that he would be at the lakes last weekend and that he would have @Zorgeee Bear with him,who needed to be brought back down south for Gaz,ready for the euro trip,we thought the Lakes it is then.
Sara booked a caravan at the Lakelands park, which was also where Stevo was staying :).
The drive up there on the Friday via the M6 was a bind, due to all the roadworks and high volume of traffic .
But we got up there in good time tbf,so we went to Bowness for a coffee before going to the site.

It was pouring with rain and rather blustery, plenty of brollies in bins after being ravaged by the weather.
Still with time on our hands before we could check in at the site we visited Beatrix Potter world, which at least gave us some shelter from the rain.
Saturday we were up and out after a cooked brekky :hungry:,although I was feeling a bit ill, nothing to do with breakfast of course.
The rain was still pouring as it has been all night so we decided not to venture on to the hard core roads like hard knot and Wrynose pass :nailbiting:.
We opted for the Kirkstone pass which was fairly quiet

Would have been rude not call in the pub at the top of the pass for a cuppa,it was a bit bleak up there to say the least.

After that we headed back down the pass and then north towards Grasmere and skirted past @Andy McDonnell's neck of the woods where it actually stopped raining........for a short while .
On the return journey to the site there was some huge puddles, more like fords across the some of the roads,so you just couldn't fly round the corners for fear of aqua planing.
In fact it felt as though you'd have been better off in a boat to navigate the roads .
Saturday evening I felt even worse, shivering and came out in hives, what ever they are  never had that before.
Sunday was a late start after a horrible nights sleep so a steady day was on the cards.
After meeting up with Stevo to collect Zorgy we decided to visit Beatrix Potter house which is on lovely road........well it would if it was dry but instead there were multiple fords to navigate in torrential rain.
Guess what,we arrive at the house, the rain stops and the sun shon .
A nice place to visit but you're round it in half-hour .
On the way back, still no rain so I thought oh let's get the roof down.........just as the heavens opened again :(.
After a pub lunch near the caravan site, which was really nice,we contemplated heading home in the evening rather than the next morning.
So after a snooze in the van we did indeed decide to go home that night, thinking at least the M6 would be quieter, which it was, just.
Monday I went to see the doc who prescribed me a course of antibiotics so god knows what bugs I'd caught, feeling half human now hence the late write up.
Seen the forecast for this weekend in the lakes ?.......dry and sunny .
The zed performed faultlessly all weekend in such dire conditions,so if proof were needed, these excellent cars don't have to be fair weather toys only,as for all my moaning about the weather I still loved every minute of driving it :).

What a shame the weather didn't play ball for you all still it sounds like you've enjoyed your break away.
Nice to see some of the site's I visited last year.

Theirs a saying in the Lake district "No such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing"

Give us a call next time you are up here, can meet up and say hello, any excuse for a zeddy outing, we are used to that sort of weather, but when it is sunny, i think we have some of the best scenic roads through the lake district.

Nice pics mate, not the best of weather for you both sadly. Those Lakes don't get filled by magic and it's liquid sunshine, not rain

I was up there on Monday and it wasn't great. I've been doing the lake district run for a month now every Monday and it's rained every time.
Like they say up north, no rain, no lakes!

Thanks @t-tony and @Paul Rice, feeling half right now. I just get freezing cold when I move, wrap up and then too hot :meh:,but I'll keep taking the tablets as they say .
I guess we were spoilt for weather on Andy's cruse last year.
It's the luck of the draw.

Its one of those mate. Where ever you have hills and mountains you get rain. There are a lot of hills and mountains in the lake district!

Cheers mate, yes we still enjoyed it despite the weather .
Just felt sorry for all the families there with kids to entertain as there's loads of outdoor things to do there that no one was using.
Apparently the park was fully booked and it was the first time it was open this year.

Absolutely agree there David .
This was only our second visit there, the first one last year we were very lucky with superb weather.
This time in the wet weather, the landscape took on a different look which certainly did not disappoint :).
