Wet seats

Hello,

I've recently acquired a Z3 that has been garage for the last few years. I now have to park it outside and noticed this morning that both passenger and driver front seats were very wet. The passenger side is worse than the drivers and the dampness is mainly concentrated on the base of the seats.

I've taken some picture of the top of the door seals as I suspect this is the culprit - would appreciate any thoughts if you can see any issues with these :)

Many thanks!

Thanks all for the advice! Will do some more more inspection tomorrow and buy the rubber seal protector.

When I took the pictures, I thought that the seals may not be making contact with the glass, and that the soft top had "shrunk" - is this not the case?

Thanks.

If you look underneath the doors you'll find a couple of bolt heads, think they're 10mm, but I may be wrong. The bolts are in an elongated slot, which allows you to slacken them off and move the bottoms of the window guides, if you move them out it pushes the top of the glass tighter against the seals, worth having a look. Along with the Gummi Pflege it may help.

You might want to take a hose or bottle of water and actually figure out where the leak is, then address it. I had one that had water running along the top of the windshield where it meets the cloth top. There is a drain channel that runs down the a-pillar molding that gets clogged. The water can pour into the car and land on and around the seats. Check your carpets too, there might be a bunch of water

When I had my Z3 I was out at a Darts match one Monday and it threw it down during the evening. The seats were sodden (mainly the driver's side in the UK). The wind had blown the rain past the top of the drop glass/ door rubber seal onto the seat.

The roof cannot shrink as it is supported by a steel frame. Check the bolts in the bottom of the doors.
