Greetings All,
Here's one to fry your noodle...Where would we be able to find a replacement glass windscreen for our Weismann hardtop roof? Needle in a haystack?
Any help or direction would be gratefully appreciated
Liam.

Try BMW? Or windscreen companies.

Tony.

In recent Wheeler Dealers I watched on catch up, Mike Brewer headed to Tyneside Safety Glass to have the heated windscreen made for a 1981 Porsche 911 SC that Elvis and he were resurrecting. It didn't cost a lot if I recall (he may have got mates rates though!!). What's wrong with your present screen, if it is in one piece still it could be used as a template. Worth giving TSG a call to see if they do anything for you.
Good luck.

Many years ago I acquired a Z3 hard top which had a broken window. At that time you could still buy replacement screens from BMW.

Tony.

Thank you all for those suggestions and advice.
I do think that BMW would have replacement screens for their own hardtop, but my problem is that we have a Weismann hardtop with the bigger glass. I did send an email to Weismann, but as you probally all know, they are under new ownership and have left the past (in terms of parts) behind. They didn't even reply to me :-( . I was hoping they might have even pointed me to their old supplier. Perhaps I will try calling them.

In answer to Pete's question as to what is wrong with the glass screen, it is actually ok and all in one piece. It is the heating element in the glass that is broken, and also i think the male connectors to the element itself are broken off. In these cold mornings the rear view is often misty on the glass, and impossible to see through.

Actually, this leads me to another question and one I believe was addressed on our forum here many years ago...do our Z3's have heated wing mirrors ?

Thanks again guys.

Liam.

Making a glass screen is very expensive in small numbers. If you could find one it would likely cost more than a hardtop. But then buying another hardtop it might also have a broken heating element.

Heating elements are repairable. Maybe google for that service.
