Wear gloves when manual handling, if I hadn't when moving an engine I may not have this fingertip. Put a slight cut in the glove, I do have to let the blood out regularly, but I still have the finger.
I use lined driver gloves, because they come in different sizes, not a fan of the one size fits nobody style.
Cheap enough I must have about ten pairs kicking about. Keep a pair beside every piece of machinery. Make excellent garden gloves too.
