We need some colour !

I noticed something in the staff car park at work today, a bit of a theme going on.

Every car is silver or grey, even the scrappers from over the road are colour coded !

You're right though - silver is a neutral colour that offends no-one. Not until you've got dozens of them together.

We sometimes have days like that in the workshop, you look round and all the ramps are occupied with vehicles of the same colour (s).

Read something about this a while back, seems that you don't get much choice when you buy a new car, colours other than very basic ones are an extra cost option. Good thing too, makes my Topaz Blue stand out more.

I've noticed this over the last few years. More and more black, grey and silver cars. We seem to have fell out of love with brighter colours and if you do have one and go to chop it in they will penalize you for it.

My wife and I noticed this when driving up the M6. Almost all the cars were black, silver or grey. Boring! When I was searching for my Z3 I was determined not to buy a silver one, even though they are the most numerous. I would have really liked a red one, but they seem rare so have settled for Estoril blue. Green has almost disappeared as a colour for cars, and dealers will tell you that they fetch less money on resale. My MG, Triumph and Z3 are all blue. Not a conscious choice, it just happened that way. But our modern VW is...........silver!

Black focus, grey Freelander, Silver fiesta, bright yellow DS3 and a blue zed. 66% though, the pattern forms.........
