Hello.
Two solid days of rain and a minor leak between drivers window and soft top roof!!
Soggy carpet!
Any recommendations on a full car cover or maybe just a half cover?
I want a heavy full cover preferably.
Please help.. Thanks. Richard.

What ever you get make sure it has a fleece lining and is breathable. I use one for our Z4 but i also cover the car with 2x black fleece blankets before i put the cover on just to help the outer material from scratching.
Ours at the moment is sat outside without it on due to getting caught in the rain on Saturday when i got back.
Always make sure the car is bone dry before putting it on. When i wash the Z i always give it a couple of hours to dry out in the open air after towel drying it before putting the cover on

I've got a cover that just covers the windscreen and soft top. I got mine from Custom Covers in Portsmouth. It is fleece lined and it cost around £55 if my memory serves me right.

Hi Richard. A leak occurring between the Z3’s window and the soft top roof is not that uncommon - happened on my 2.8 when I first had it. HOWEVER the good news is that it’s usually very easy to put right. All down to a little drainage hole in the rubber at the top of the windscreen getting blocked. Search around on this fantastic forum and you’ll find the thread(s). Once sorted, the interior remains as dry as a bone in the heaviest of downpours, so don’t despair.

We have a half cover as didn't want a full cover than could move about in the wind and rub the paintwork.
This one is trapped in the boot and the doors and soft covered magnets along top of the door and rear wings.

That's a nice cover.
I use a £20 half cover in the summer. It does cover the paint a little but my car really needs paint correction.
Be careful with a full cover, you must get a tailored one or at least semi tailored. I have a semi tailored for my regular car which over summer is not getting used much because I'm in the Z3 so to keep the bird s*** off I have been covering it (only when clean). It is a new Mercedes CLA bought in October last year. The cover unfortunately must have got grit inside it and has scratched the roof. Hopefully it will polish out but a paint correction will fix it though I am p***** off because I know better.
Make sure both cover and car are clean before putting the cover on and also it must be tight to minimise movement in the wind.

Hi. Thanks very much for all of your replies and suggestions.
I had to rush out last night and buy a full cover from Halfords as it rained non stop for about 5 hours!!.
I’m intrigued about the drain holes near the windscreen??.
It would be great if that solves the problem as I can’t actually see any defects to the roof covering or fitting to the side windows so it shouldn’t leak but does!
Brian4’s half cover looks mint!!!.
Thanks again all of you. Richard.

Afternoon. Ive done the magic trick with the drainage holes/water channel in the windscreen rubber as per your suggestion. I used an airline to blow out the crap and silicone to seal the bung. I think its worked as my Mrs was out in a downpour and said the car was dry.
I haven't plucked up the courage to leave the cover off it yet as the down pours weve been having have been horrendous recently but I think the car is fixed! Thank you sooooooo much for providing the link. Your a hero.
