Waterproof Boot Rack Bag

After doing our first weekend away trip in the Z3 Roadster last weekend, thoughts turned to longer trips, perhaps into Europe. Up til now - its been local journeys up to 60 miles, but not an overnight. We managed fine with a squashy holdall in the boot for all our gear for a couple of nights, but if we were away for a couple of weeks and had a few changes of clothes etc I would need more space. When I bought the car the seller threw in a boot rack. Does anyone know of a case or bag cover that would work well on a boot rack and stay waterproof on a rainy motorway for example?
I also considered the security issue of having to remove the bag to place on a seat in the car if we parked up and left the car anywhere.
Anyone else developed a workable solution to this for longer journeys?
Cheers
Alan

Depends if you have the OEM BMW boot rack, if so they do a purpose hard shell suitcase that locks onto the rack and is waterproof in rain. Mine kept everything dry up the rain soaked M6 to the Lakes. Failing that a tightly wrapped bin bag usually works ;)

I have a big soft bag with waterproof cover I bought for the rack on a Pontiac I used to own. Never actually been out the box and is somewhere in the loft.
I'll find it and post pics, if any use you can have it for the postage.

Hi Iain, that looks just what I am looking for. Happy to give you something for that. I see you live down near Perth. I live in Aberdeenshire and we are heading south past Perth on the 10th August (in the morning) if you are around then?(social distancing observed of course. I take it that it is just the one bag - in the box pic - looks like 2?
Many thanks
Alan

Sorry Alan, SWIMBO has had me gardening all week.
It is 2 packs, I didn't read the side, just saw the big wheely pack in the pic. From a trade warehouse, and a price I was more interested in if I could get a 2nd box in a Fiero with 2 people and the mountain of stuff we'd already bought.

They're both massive.

The wheeled one has a solid base and would easily take 8 of those plastic storage boxes. Theres a little soft cover that shields the wheels if required. For scale, that's an e82 it's sitting on.

The soft pack is truly enormous, I think it may be far too big, it took those four boxes, a folded up workmat, four hi viz parkas and could easily take the same again.

The zip is heavy duty, behind a double thickness fabric that doubles over and seals with velcro.
Says water resistant only, pack clothing in plastic bags. All seams are taped though, and there is some sort of cover that clips on and has tie downs.

Work rota just posted this morning, so I'll be working Mondays. If still of any use I can leave both in the back of the silver Ignis in the drive.

Thanks Iain. Yes I agree with you. That are absolutely massive!! I can imagine they would look bigger than the hood when up!! As you say. Probably too big for the Z and I was thinking that when leaving the car unattended I would have to put it in the car and with any amount of stuff in it would be a handful!! Look more suited to a roof rack set up.

Thanks for letting me see them to scale. If it was me i'd get those on gumtree as with all the staycations just now they would sell like hot cakes!!

Many thanks again for letting me see them.
