Water in the fuel filler

I have a small problem with my 1997 2.8 in that water collects in the rubber boot surrounding the fuel filler pipe inside the flap. I thought at first a drain had become blocked, but there's doesn't seem to be any drain hole. I don't want to drill one, in case the water just drains into somewhere even less desirable. Any suggestions?

If you look carefully there's a small drain hole at the 6 O'clock position, it's clogged up. A thin bit of wire will sort it

Thanks for that. You're quite right of course. The muck that blocked the hole had cunningly blended in so well with the surrounding rubber I failed to spot it, despite having looked several times. Obviously going blind in my old age!

My wife says something like ,, "Ah so you took a man look again did you ?", when I do that sort of thing..
I have always done done it, so It not necessarily a symptom of age and blindness ..;). That being said, I'm not the one that spent all day driving around shopping with fuel flap closed but the filler cap dangling outside of on it on its retainer...
=))

My WD40 'straw' worked well when this happened to me.
