Hi all,

Just had vmaxx coilovers fitted and came across a few issues with the main one being the ride height at the back. The garage have fitted them as per the instructions removing the rubber packer from the top and placing this on the bottom with the adjusting cup being at the top, this is set on its lowest setting and is no lower than standard height!!

Can anyone confirm that having the adjusting cup at the top is correct?

The second issue is the front tyres catch the springs so need 5mm spacers on the front which I can live with but the rear height is causing me concern.

Greatly appreciate any advice.

Better if you can post some pictures for us to see?

Tony.

The car is in the mechanics garage so unable to get a pic at present but found the below on the tinterweb. Basically we currently have it installed the opposite away round to the below as it's the way that's stated in the instructions. Anyone else have Vmaxx coilovers or similar to see how this compares to others.......failing this we will try to fit as per below image and see...

The issue may be that the kit is for an e36 the front of the Zed is E36 but the rear is E30 the ride height on alot of these kits is too high at the rear :(

I run my BC rear springs without any pads or cups at all to get the desired height (mines not super low though, probably 30-35mm I would guess)
You could try it without the pads and cups, quite easy to do, just loosen the shock bolt and you able to get them out.

Thanks for that, good idea as I don't want to go mega low so taking pads and cup out would like you say lower it at least 20mm

I run without the bottom pad and have the top coil screwed between the cup. Still isn't as low as it should be. Most coil over kits I've seen for zeds don't go any lower than a set of lowering springs would. You could run just the spring, it still probably won't be as low as you expect. There is no way you will get super low with them in the rear.

Thanks for everyone's response. Long story short they supplied the incorrect kit for an e36 compaq so await replacement parts to enable the rear to go a little lower.

The E36 compact would be the right kit in theory it shares E30 rear subframe identical to the Z3.

I think most kit's would be supplied with ones for the E36 compact. Interested to see what they supply you with next and how the car sits on them.
Vmaxx have a specific kit for a z3 (with different springs apparently) so let's see. Will post pics and update once I've recieved them and got them fitted.

Right, had confirmation from both Venom Motorsport and Vmaxx themselves that the only difference us the springs. Springs have arrived and now fitted and all is good.

Richard at Venom Motorsport has done all he can and would defo use them again. I'm old and wise enough to realise that mistakes happen but the difference is what happens when the mistakes become evident and for that Richard has been great.

Anyway pics

Looks great  Sitting perfect now.

Did they say what springs are needed then and from what model? And is there anymore adjustment with them?
If you're thinking about this kit just ensure you make sure you order the right one. The right Vmaxx one should be 60BM13 as below link:

http://www.v-maxx.co.uk/viewproduct.asp?id=27&m2=17

There is about another 5mm to be had at the back and the front would go lower. Pic below of where I've currently got it.
