I used to be a field engineer for VM, @Antm72 also works for them, whoops, forgot we spoke via PM, I bumped into Webby at the weekend

When we got virgin broadband installed, the installer, instead of drilling his own hole in the external wall, cut our tv cables and pulled them out of the house and shoved the fibre cables through, leaving us with no tv over Xmas for 8 weeks.
It was a nightmare to get them to repair it. Took over 13weeks in total. Right pain in the butt.

Now thats a p*** poor installer and should have cost him his job but as per normal, VM use sub contractors that are over worked and underpaid, they have to take short cuts just to get home at a reasonable time, I scored 11 ten out of tens in one week from customer reviews and what did I get for it, Sweet FA, we where supposed to get £10 for each one, I never did see it,
Just to give you an example of a normal day, I would have to drive to the Notts area, this could take 2 hours, I would have to do a full days work, around 8 installs in 8 properties, many of these would be multiple installs, including BB, TV and phone some with extra boxes in bedrooms etc, and then drive home another 2 hours, oh and we didn't get any pay whatsoever for driving time. I detested the job in the end

Just to give a positive point of view. We had VM broadband and telephone installed a number of years ago (about 10years I think), and the installation work was brilliant. First crew came and installed the buried lines from roadside pavement connection box, along edge of drive to point adjacent to double garage a distance of approx 40mtres, I lifted some block work paving to enable cables to cross path so junction box could be fitted to garage wall. When the house installation technician came, I outlined the route I wanted cables to be taken as I didn't want ANY cables to seen across the front of the house or double garage. Great he said I like a challenge. The guy did everything as I wanted, all cables are routed through my integral double garage into the house and positioned so they would be hidden by hardwood skirting that I fitted afterwards. I realise that things may have changed in recent times as the VM guys I had I don't think were contractors but VM employees.
I couldn't fault the work done by VM. Sounds as though times may have changed.

I would like to point out that @Jonnysnapzzz is making a kind offer to sort some discount out for people who might be interested.

I'm not a happy guy when it comes to VM myself, but if we could take his offer at face value that would be cool. Complaints should probably go to VM direct (as I did) rather than an individual who comes on here to chat cars.

Thanks, Gaz

Wasn't a complaint. In fact I'm still with VM. Just stating I had a bad experience with the installer. Thought it was a story to share. When our contract is up in a few months I'll be sure to get in touch :)
Plus I was heavily compensated for the trouble caused, VM decided £30 credit was enough haha. Never mind. The fibre broadband is good though
