With new car sales falling we can expect more of this, and again when the manufacturers start selling online taking away more jobs. Dealerships will become service centres and handover points.

The government are partly to blame, demonisation of diesel and messing around with car tax rates.

For those people who own cars that are £20 to tax, or even free, are they going to buy new now everything's £140?

I'm sure it'll mean they'll put off the new car at least a couple of years.

I've just bought my daughter a VW Up, I would have got a new one, but instead I got a used one with £20 tax.

I really hope the ministers make up their minds soon as to what new laws/taxes are coming for diesels, their scaremongering has cost diesel sales, and as a result UK jobs.

Meddling ministers, makes my pee boil.

what do they expect when you keep hammering the motorist & car, Im just hanging onto my existing diesel 4*4 which is 8years old now, i don't trust the goverment as if i buy a new diesel the road tax & diesel prices will go sky high.

I was looking for a new van to replace my now very tired and smokey Vauxhall Combo, but as diesels suddenly became unacceptable, the new van got put on hold.

I have started to look again, but have you seen how few petrol vans are available?

Dealerships are becoming a thing of the past due to on line sales, we look after a local Motordepot and they have secured a deal with Ford, basically the customer orders on line and collects the new car from them.

The big surprise is that it's taken as long as it has. Once PSA took them over the writing was on the wall. Why would they continue selling the Vivaro (Renault Trafic and Nissan) boosting sales for their rivals in the van sector. Surely someone in the Government saw this coming???
