I found this and wondered if it could be used for our Z3 cars?

It is a replacement relay for the intermittent wipers to make them variable

by other research same one in the Golf , and Astra

I know the boys and girls of the Lotus Elan M100 are now doing the conversion with a strait swop of the relay.

what are your thoughts?

I guess it is possible to use the VWs relay but you would need to make a harness as the two are not interchangeable. There is supposed to be an intermittent programmable wiper module,, see the link below.

I think our cars already have them fitted, I can certainly alter the spread on mine with the method in the advert?

It does say as fitted to European vehicles and replaces the US Specified item.

I think I need to give this a try if I can get the z3 of the wife tomorrow.

In saying that I think my car was a German import.

I can now confirm that my car does not have this

can someone tell me if it is standard on UK cars?

According to the manual the intermittent interval is controlled automatically by the vehicle speed.

But does not explain why I can alter mine and you can't, can only assume that this module has been retrofitted at some stage, if it is not a standard fit.
