Goodmorning all, well its morning here in Australia...;).. Its time for me to rebuild or replace the dual vanos on my z, shes a bit noisy on warm oil and is sluggish to respond to a bit of welly. There is obviously shed loads of info on this topic, but I ask here of my new friends anyway... I had the DISA out yesterday and its fine.. Any advice or referrals would be appreciated.

Cheers....

Replacing the seals seems to be quite a easy job - look at the Biesan Systems website, which has detailed info on how to do it properly. The Beisan company of the USA are regarded as the best type of seals, being made of decent high temperatire material which lasts for ever.

Also look at the Probsten-tech.de site, who specialise in VANOS repairs. They are based N of Stuttgart, and have a lot of useful info regarding their testsing of Biesan seals, and other gems such as oil tryes. They advise against using 10-60, as this promotes seal wear, reccommend use of 5 or10-40 oil. they also do their rebiult and sometimes machined units by post, or just sell kits of every part you need to DIY.

Super helpful, thankyou guys. I was not going to take it on myself, but now I will. Looks like a guy with only one hand can handle it... ;)
