Does the fact that a low mileage Z is an import from Japan and an auto affect the value up or down ? what do folks think ? also being an import does this affect the insurance in any way.

Japanese cars for the home market have less underbody protection in many cases, so it's possible that export BMWs adopt the same philosophy for that market. Just an observation, I have no specialist knowledge on BMW's policy.
