Don’t worry. No argument. Coolant always has everyone on their soapbox as there’s different schools of thought. I’m just keen to try and leave those new to the debate with enough to make their own minds up.

Always use ionised water. Makes a big difference longterm. I especially use this in my 42 year old MGBGT. As a matter of routine, I do a total drain, flush and refill every two years on all my cars. I do a brake flush and refill every two years as well which is surprisingly quick and easy to do when it becomes a habit.

Oh, and another thing Frazer, just you wait till you ask about gear oil and diff. oil. ;)=))

Tony.

ps. Just to add my twopenneth on this subject. Yes definitely flush the whole system through and use an antifreeze or ready mixed coolant supplied by a motorist store, ECP, A Page etc. Even Halfords if you can afford their prices. Don't buy from Supermarket shelf.

Don't forget engine oil. And soft tops as well probably...

I think the flush and refill next week at my IN2 is costing around £35. That’s at Darren Wood and I trust them to use the appropriate coolant.

Once every 2 years, not particularly expensive.
