Hi ,
Finally finished upgrading my Z3 sound system, as I only had the standard set up , not even the the Harmon Kardon upgrade. I started by replacing the original front speakers with a set of Pioneers, and adding an extra pair of Pioneers behind the rear seats. I also upgraded the tweeters. Then it was the big job of adding a sub woofer. I was advised by my local specialist car stereo firm to fit the Kicker Sub as it needed the least volume for the enclosure. As well as polyfill ,It still needed the lid to hold the sub to get the absolute maximun volume so it entailed me fabricating a new lid to fix the sub to, and then to cover it in leather. I also covered the adjoining plastic covers to give it a bit more of an OEM feel. I fitted the 250 watt 2ohm Blam mono amp in the boot which also came with a remote gain control which I decided to fit adjacent to the rear heater button. I have now set it all up and cannot believe the improvement in the sound.!!!!!

Hi Trevor, Its a new lid that I had to fabricate together with a new enclosure that replaced the existing compartment. No rattles ,no amp overheating and the sound is just incredible .Worth all the hassle.

I would like to know how you fabricated the lid, I'm in the process of fitting 2 six inch drivers into the original box in an isobaric push pull, phase adjustable config, I wont be putting a driver in the lid, but my lid is ducked and I had not considered just making a new one... :)

That is awesome work, and quite doable, because I did build my own HiFi units and they were challenging to say the least however I want it to appear original, a sleeper if you like..
Im sure if you built a few you would not have too much trouble selling them on here.

I will certainly post the result of my existing woofer box upgrade to two 5"1/2 drivers in isobaric config, Tests so far show promise...
