Yes, my little zed is getting spoilt again. After a very interesting discussion a few days ago regarding brake upgrades so that the future work I have planned will be able to stop, I managed to purchase a complete set of front brakes from an E46 325i. These use a 300mm vented front disc rather than the standard 286mm. Even though it does sound a small amount, it is amazing that after the test drive both @Lee and myself were happy that the increase was very noticeable. The brakes come on nice and crisp and stopping has been vastly improved.

Firstly, here is the old disc on the right compared to the replacement on the left. These were from a very good e46 breakers in Swanley, Kent.

Here is a comparison of the calliper carriers. The old being on the right of the picture. The replacement is much thicker in places.

Replacements installed with the help of @Lee and @Shortie_gal

Of note is the fact that the 17" alloys are full of disc and calliper.

So in summing up, I would recommend that if you fancy doing some upgrades and a very important one. Consider changing your brakes to a slightly larger disc and meaty callipers. If you need the details of the breakers in Kent, drop me a message.

Once again, thank you to @Lee and @Shortie_gal ... And dominos for delivering the pizza. @GazHyde Sam actually has evidence that I got my hands very dirty this evening.

A very important upgrade Paul especially if you're planning on power gains in the future. The new ones fill the wheel nicely as well and drilled and grooved discs.....groovy :D.
Do you mind me asking what the breakers charged you ?

@Bozzy would you believe me if I told you... £80 for The Carriers and Callipers. He also gave me the discs and the pads as he had no need for them. So a very nice result.

Bless ya Paul just pulling your leg mate. Have to say you had a good deal on those parts. As for getting your hands dirty you were quick to get stuck into my expansion tank while i stood and chatted. I'm no mechanic and wouldn't pretend to.

True Steve, and if he'd blown a tenner on some paint they would look as though he'd spent hundreds too.;)=))=))

The paint will be done as soon as the new Brembo front pads get put on.. Oh another £25 to add to my cars tally...

I spoke with the guy I purchased my callipers from and he does have two more sets of callipers and carriers.. If anyone else fancies upgrading the 2.2, 2.8 wB to 300mm discs.
