Update on BMW Z3 Car Alarm.

1) Purchased fob from BMW - cost just under £50.BMW Spares Dept. quoted hat I may need the fob coding or soldering, they quoted a cost of £50 per 1/2 hours work and that the work may take about one hour, I decided to go it alone.
2) Additional fob purchased from ebay at a cost of £31.
3) attempts then made to programme fobs via turning ignition to position 2 - 5 times, no joy.
4) I then decided to follow the 3G EWS fob programming forum on the Technical database.
5) I got as far as taking off the glove box in the car and guess what, the alarm module had been removed, luckily when I purchased the fob from ebay an alarm module was supplied with the fob.
6) I fitted the module switching it to learn mode and programmed the two fobs.
7) I then found the siren had been turned off and I did not have a key, I therefore hacksawed the top of the switch off enabling me to then turn on the siren.
8) I then found that the drivers door was not been activated by the fob, the actuator was not working. I removed the actuator and purchased a replacement off ebay for £30, following renewal of the actuator the car alarm is now functioning as required. Just imagine how much BMW would have charged for this work.

The forums are really helpful and I take my hat off to you guys who have saved me an absolute fortune.
