Hi everyone.

Looking for some advice of service intervals for my 2.0 Zed.

Last week I called Cheshire BM where I had my Zed serviced last year to book it in for an annual service.
They informed me that it doesn't need servicing till next year 🤔
Personally I like to change the engine oil and filter every year, but that's just me.
I've attached a pic of the service book showing the last two services and the service lights on the dash which I have no clue of what they mean lol.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, the Dealer is correct, the green lights decrease the nearer you get to your Inspection. 5 x Green lights that extinguish one at a time, 1 x Amber then 1 x Red. That said, if you want them to do it then crack on, they'll also reset the service lights back to 5 x Green.

The service lights are time/mileage based and the green segments go out with use. When the green segments are all gone and the orange/red ones on the right light up, the car is telling you it needs a service. The lights are reset after each service and the countdown begins again.

Somewhat conflicted here; on the one hand, fair play to the main dealer for not doing unnecessary work. On the other hand, I also like to change oil and filters annually regardless of miles, and I do a similar mileage, i.e. few thousand a year. I do the work myself though, so the only cost are the service items, which are cheap enough online. I do this before the MOT each year and reset the service indicator myself.

As yours has only done a couple thousand miles since it was last serviced, I think you'd be fine to wait a bit longer. But there's no harm in giving it fresh oil and filters, which is what I do every year regardless of miles.

Thanks for the advice chaps đź‘Ť
I'll drop the oil and fit a new filter myself and book in with Cheshire BM for a service next year.

Just out of interest which engine oil would you recommend for my 2.0L engine ? 🤔

The thing is you can reset the lights without changing the oil and filter. An unscrupulous person, knowing the car was ready for a service could have (could've) reset the lights and done nothing and said its just been serviced.

I too change the oil and filter/s every year but leave the service lights until they show a service needed, then do the full service and reset the lights rather than reset after every oil change.
